How did Sazzad Hossain Join Pathao and Changed his Life
The Pioneers Of Progress: Sazzad Hossain
I sincerely believe that if you help someone, that same help will be returned back to you somehow, either today or tomorrow. The next time I get myself in some kind of trouble, I believe that someone else will help me as I strived to be honest and listened to that man on that day.
*Name: Sazzad Hossain
*Hometown: Dhaka
Tell us something about yourself
When I was a young child, I was known by all to be a spoilt brat. The fact that I would be riding a bike at such an age couldn’t be fathomed by my mother. Everyone called me selfish. I was quite stubborn and tried to accomplish anything that crossed my mind – that too, being totally careless about anyone’s opinions. Consequently, I was often admonished by my parents for being so unruly. However, I was always one step ahead in helping anyone with diligence.
How did you join Pathao?
When I started working, I had a hard time commuting to office. I was always tardy, resulting in objections from my boss. Surprisingly, I came to a decision that I would be buying a new motorcycle without any second thought. My family came to know this and they were really anxious about all the dangers that come with a motorcycle. Finally, it was decreed that I would be allowed to own a bike but I would have to bear the fuel costs myself. I kept working hard and bought my first bike in installments.Everyone knows how difficult it is to commute in Dhaka. Hence, I planned that I would be sharing my ride with someone en-route to my office. But people looked down on me – it was as if I was about to kidnap them. Some would even belittle me with such harsh words that I came back home depressed. One day, I came to know about Pathao through Facebook. I was convinced by their system and I had begun ride sharing after I successfully completed my registration. Pathao earned my trust to be an excellent platform for ride sharing and I was not termed as a kidnapper anymore!
Tell us about a specific ride that you will always remember
I picked up a user from Niketan that day. Right after he boarded my bike, he asked me to hurry up. But I was reluctant, since I know that speeding while driving might result in an accident. He insisted and it seemed as if he was in some trouble. I kept his request. We reached our destination in 11 minutes 25 seconds. He rushed to a nearby house and came back with a bag. He again asked me to take him to Dhanmondi, Road 31, with a very little time in hand. I asked him what would happen if we failed to reach the destination on time. He replied that he would miss the last chance of seeing his deceased father. Sometimes, reality questions everything that life has to offer. That day, the man had lost his father and he was restless to see his father for the very last time. I took that man to Dhanmondi, Road 31, within 8 minutes. He ran to his home and came back after a few minutes. He thanked me for helping him out in such a critical situation. I advised him not to wait any longer. The ride fare was BDT 225 but he insisted on paying me BDT 250. I rejected his request as I always try my best to abide by the rules. As a result, he paid me just the right amount.
Do you have anything more to say, perhaps any suggestion?
I sincerely believe that if you help someone, that same help will be returned back to you somehow, either today or tomorrow. The next time I get myself in some kind of trouble, I believe that someone else will help me as I strived to be honest and listened to that man on that day.
