Product Packaging Guideline
- Pathao Courier
- July 4, 2024
Packaging plays a crucial role in protecting your valuable products. Many merchants overlook this important step when starting their business, which can result in products getting damaged before they even reach the customer.
This not only causes financial loss but can also lead to a loss of customer trust in your brand.
Remember, following the right packaging methods is not an unnecessary expense. Instead, it helps ensure:
- Your product reaches the customer safely and in perfect condition.
- In case of a failed delivery or return, your product comes back undamaged.
- The risk of product loss during transit is reduced.
- You remain eligible for maximum compensation if your product is damaged during delivery or return handling by Pathao Courier.
That’s why choosing the right packaging materials and packing products properly is especially important when shipping fragile items.
Common Packaging Materials and Their Uses
| SL. | Packaging Material and Use Case | Picture |
| 01 | Cellophane Polybag Use a lightweight polybag to protect clothing and other products from dust, water, and dirt. Even if the outer packaging gets damaged, the product inside remains protected. | ![]() |
| 02 | Mailer Polybag Suitable for clothing, plastic products, steel items, and other non-fragile products. Ensure the polybag is thick and sealed with strong adhesive to prevent tearing during transit. | ![]() |
| 03 | Padded Envelope Ideal for lightweight fragile items such as mobile covers, watch boxes, and similar products. While not a replacement for bubble wrap, it provides an additional layer of protection. | ![]() |
| 04 | Bubble Wrap A cost-effective way to protect fragile products. Using 3–5 layers can help prevent most transit damage. Glass, ceramic, and fragile plastic products should always be wrapped in bubble wrap before shipping. For valuable products, furniture, or product boxes, you can also add three layers of bubble wrap around the outer box for extra protection. | ![]() |
| 05 | Cardboard or Corrugated Box Protects products from pressure, impact, and scratches during transportation. For fragile or glass products, using a box along with bubble wrap and a fragile sticker is mandatory. | ![]() |
| 06 | Fragile Sticker Indicates that the package should be handled with extra care during transportation. Mandatory for fragile and glass products when used with a box and bubble wrap. | ![]() |
| 07 | Liquid Sticker Mandatory for food and liquid products. Product caps or seals should also be secured with tape before packaging. | ![]() |
| 08 | Scotch Tape Used to securely seal boxes and polybags. Custom-branded tape can also enhance package security and brand visibility. | ![]() |
| 09 | Dunnage Paper, Old Paper, or Newspaper Used to fill empty spaces inside boxes. Paper, cloth, foam, or leftover bubble wrap can help prevent products from shifting and getting damaged during transit. | ![]() |

Additional Packaging Tips
- Use a box that matches the size and shape of your product. Excess space increases the risk of damage.
- If you are shipping multiple fragile products together, wrap each item separately.
- Use enough tape based on the parcel’s weight to ensure it remains securely sealed throughout transit.
- Proper packaging helps preserve product quality, reduce delivery issues, and build customer trust in your business.
Your attention to packaging plays a key role in ensuring customers receive products in excellent condition and helps strengthen the credibility of your brand.

Your cooperation will help us review and resolve the issue more efficiently.

- If a Customer Wants to Check the Product During Delivery
Customers must inspect the product in the presence of the delivery rider. The package should not be taken inside the house or checked outside the rider’s sight. Merchants are requested to inform customers about this requirement when confirming the order.
- If a Merchant Wants to Check a Returned Product
Returned products must be checked in front of the Pathao Courier pickup or delivery rider. Once an order is marked as “Return Complete,” no further complaints will be accepted. If you have concerns about the returned product, do not accept it. Instead, immediately hand it back to the rider.
- Maximum Compensation Limit
The maximum compensation amount for any eligible claim is BDT 10,000.
- Exchange Orders
For exchange or replacement orders, Pathao Courier will not be responsible for damage to products returned by customers. Merchants are encouraged to inform customers beforehand so they can properly package products before returning them.
- Proper Packaging Requirements
Merchants must ensure that:
- The box is not significantly larger than the product.
- Any empty spaces are filled with cushioning materials.
- The product is secured properly and does not move inside the package.
These precautions are particularly important for fragile and liquid products.
