Pathao Pay Launches Personalized Mastercard-Branded Prepaid Cards
Dhaka, Bangladesh – Jul 15, 2025 – Pathao Pay, Mastercard and Mutual Trust Bank PLC has collaborated to launch co-branded Prepaid Cards, aiming to provide exclusive benefits and discounts through Pathao’s fintech arm ‘Pathao Pay.’ The prepaid cards are uniquely designed for bold and ambitious young users who crave a payment experience as unique and personalized as they are.
Staying true to Pathao’s mission of flexibility and user-centric service, the card will allow users to make payments wherever Mastercard is accepted in Bangladesh and around the world. Users can also withdraw funds directly from their Pathao Pay balance at any ATM across the country. The card comes with a choice of three distinct yet minimalist designs: Starlit Horizon, Purple Haze, Sunshine Beach.
The prepaid card is available in both physical and virtual formats, linked to user’s accounts. It is ideal for POS transactions, online shopping, and ATM withdrawals. Cardholders will have the freedom to take control of their money. Additionally, the app ensures card details are securely protected through encryption and requires authentication methods such as a PIN or biometric verification for access, reflecting cardholders individuality.
Fahim Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO of Pathao, said, “With Pathao Pay Cards, the first of its kind wallet-linked card in Bangladesh, you – our consumers – can now transact how you want, access funds when you need and manage finances how you should. Pathao is far more than a brand, or a suite of products — it is a lifestyle. Pathao Pay Cards now brings to you an innovation in fintech that matches your lifestyle and simplifies your life.”
Syed Mahbubur Rahman, CEO and MD, Mutual Trust Bank PLC, said, “This collaboration between Mutual Trust Bank, Pathao Pay and Mastercard reinforces our commitment to innovate payment options for the new-age users. Through the launch of this product, we want to empower our customers to avail benefits designed to provide innovative payment solutions.”
Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager, Bangladesh, Mastercard, said, “As a new consumer class is emerging in Bangladesh, unique and personalized payment options can cater diverse fintech solutions to the youth. Mastercard is committed to fostering partnerships that can enable cardholders to explore cutting-edged transaction options.
